When your next customer is an AI agent

A circle for the person, a node for their agent, three panels for shop, service and brand agent

Agent to agent: people send their own agent. It decides whether you make the shortlist. An AI agent searches, compares, enquires and buys for the person behind it, and it reads product data, prices and terms to do so. The decision is made in its selection, not on your page.

From AI search to agents

Two stages, and the decision moves

Today a person asks an AI. The next step: they send their own agent, which searches, compares, enquires and buys for them.

Stage 1: a person asks the AI

Someone asks a question, the AI answers and names its sources. Whether your brand shows up in that answer is GEO: content an AI understands and cites.

Stage 2: the agent acts for the person

The agent reads product data, prices, availability and terms. It compares, enquires and buys. It does not name its sources.

What changes: the decision is made in the agent's selection, not on your page.

Why now

52 %of consumers in Germany use AI when they shop.
Almost a thirdwould switch retailers if an AI recommended something better.
8 to 10 %want the AI to handle the payment as well.

Three things your brand needs now

  1. Readable

Product data, structured data and product pages an agent can understand. Shop, feed and page say the same thing, otherwise your product drops out of the selection.

  2. Measurable

Visits and purchases through agents often do not show up in pixel-based tools. First-party measurement with OWAPro™ recognises agent visits and reports them separately.

  3. Distinguishable

Keep real agents apart from bots and click fraud, so budget and figures stay clean.

Questions and answers about AI agents

What does agent to agent mean?

A person sends their AI agent to search, compare, enquire or buy for them. That agent talks to the shop, the service or the brand's own agent. Agent to agent describes this exchange between two agents, with no human visiting every page.

How is this different from GEO?

GEO makes sure an AI understands your content and names it in its answer. A human still reads that answer. With agent to agent, the agent decides on its own, based on product data, prices, availability and terms. GEO stays the foundation, agent to agent is the next step.

Do I need my own AI agent?

No. Readable first, then available for enquiries. Your product data, structured data and product pages need to be in a shape an agent understands and uses. A brand agent of your own only makes sense once that foundation is in place.

How do I recognise visits from AI agents?

Many agents do not run JavaScript, so pixel-based tools miss them or record them wrongly. First-party measurement such as OWAPro™ works from the requests on your own server and reports agent visits separately, so they do not blur into human traffic in your figures.

When does this become relevant in Germany?

Agents that search, compare and buy for their users have existed since autumn 2026, so far mainly in the US. In Germany, according to Deloitte, 52 % of consumers already use AI when they shop. Preparing now pays off because readable data takes time and Google Shopping and GEO benefit from it today.
